The Stage launches LoveArts.com – the dating site for arts lovers
LoveArts.com is the new dating site from The Stage that connects singles with a shared interest in the performing, literary or visual arts.
Unlike generic dating sites that can overwhelm members with unsuitable matches, LoveArts.com narrows the search with a tailored service for arts lovers. Members can describe their cultural interests and activities – whether it's taking photos, going to the theatre or attending a book club – and find other singles with similar passions.
The website, which is powered by The Dating Lab, uses two-way matching technology to narrow the search for 'the one' by suggesting suitable matches with compatible interests and aspirations.
Creating a profile, uploading up to 10 photos and receiving 100 potential matches is free of charge and the perfect way for members to start exploring the service. Subscribing to LoveArts.com enables members to strike-up a conversation with other members.
As an exclusive introductory offer, LoveArts.com is giving away 500 free one-month subscriptions. The subscription gives individuals the benefits of all the subscriber-only features including up to 1000 suitable matches and use of a safe, private messaging service. A free one-month subscription can be claimed by visiting http://www.lovearts.com/s/.
Amit Roy, Marketing Manager at The Stage, said: 'A shared love of theatre, music, books or art is a great way to light the spark of romance. This new service will appeal to The Stage's core market of entertainment industry professionals whilst attracting a wider audience of engaged, arts-loving consumers.'
Duncan Cunningham, CIO at The Dating Lab, said: 'The Stage and The Dating Lab are a perfect match; we expect the combination of innovation, experience and a trusted voice within the UK arts industry will make LoveArts.com an undeniable success.'

97 Percent of Singles Over 50 Believe Regular Sex is Good for Their Health
/PRNewswire/ — Today OurTime.com, the largest online dating community catering to singles over 50, announced the results of its Sex and Body Image survey. The survey, which polled over 750 members in its online community, revealed that a whopping 97 percent believe a sexual relationship is good for their health. According to this group, it’s no longer the old adage that an apple a day will keep the doctor away; but rather an active sexual relationship that does the trick.
The results also showed that positive body image increases with age. In fact, 70 percent of respondents replied that they feel more comfortable in their bodies now than when they were younger, and 90 percent of respondents feel good about their body today, giving them the confidence to have sex more regularly.
“Many young people think that once you hit 50, your body image automatically changes and your sex life immediately takes a hit, but this couldn’t be further from the truth,” said Dr. Gail Saltz, OurTime.com’s Relationship Expert and Psychiatrist. “As these survey results show, 50-plus singles are more comfortable in their own skin than ever before and are enjoying themselves fully at this point in life.”
More highlights from the OurTime.com Sex and Body Image Survey are as follows:
Keeping the Communication Lines Open:
70 percent of those surveyed would be absolutely willing to talk candidly about their sexual needs and desires with their potential mate.
In fact, 77 percent feel more comfortable talking about sex than when they were younger.
Most importantly, almost all respondents want a partner who is comfortable with their sexuality: a whopping 97 percent of respondents furthered that they feel it is important that their potential partner is able to talk candidly about sex, and his or her sexual needs and desires.
Frequency and Safety:
An overwhelming 91 percent of respondents believe regular or frequent sex is more important now that they are near or over the age of 50.
In defining what regular sex means to them, 65 percent would prefer to have sex with their partner two to three times a week; 20 percent would prefer to have sex daily.
When it comes to sexual safety, 75 percent said they would use protection against sexually transmitted diseases when engaging in sex with a new partner.
A Lot to Love at IAC/InterActiveCorp
IAC/InterActiveCorp (IACI: Nasdaq)
By Morgan Joseph TriArtisan ($38.64, Oct. 10, 2011)
We are raising our price target for IAC/InterActiveCorp to $42 from $38 and reiterate the company at Buy.
We believe IAC’s (ticker: IACI) key units performed well during third-quarter 2011 and are well-positioned as the company moves into 2012.
IAC’s strong performance has been marked by effective cash generation and strategic acquisitions. Free cash flow in the first six months of 2011 beat last year’s level by 28% at $137.8 million. In the second quarter, the company repurchased 7.2 million shares of common stock worth approximately $262.6 million.
Since then, the board of directors authorized the company to repurchase an additional 15 million shares of common stock. Management has also indicated that it will continue its acquisition efforts, though nothing significant is likely in the near term, in our opinion.
IAC’s efforts to develop its dating business in Europe should reach fruition following the consolidation of Meetic, Europe’s largest dating website. The final tender offer included the settlement and delivery of 808,115 shares. Following this transaction, [IAC unit] Match.com should hold approximately 17.6 million shares, representing approximately 81% of the share capital of Meetic.
When the company reports later this month, the accounting for deferred revenue related to the transaction could cause some confusion under U.S. GAAP though we expect management to clearly clarify the affects.
IAC recently announced that Match.com acquired a 20% interest in Zhenai Inc. in China. As a leading provider of Internet and telephone matchmaking services, Zhenai should help Match.com broaden its subscriber demographics.
At the end of the second quarter, Zhenai had 30 million subscribers. We are optimistic that Match’s strong operating history will help its strategic acquisitions achieve strong growth.
At Long Last, Facebook Releases an iPad App
It has been the equivalent of waiting for Bigfoot. Bloggers had seen it. Developers said they had worked on it. Facebook denied its existence. Everyone else just wanted to know if it was real.
It's the Facebook application for the iPad, which is finally out in the wild for everyone to prod, pinch and interact with.
After months of speculation and false alarms, Facebook said Monday that its official iPad application was available as a free download from the Apple App Store.
The app will likely benefit Apple and Facebook. Although the iPad is the biggest-selling tablet on the market, some consumers are not convinced they need it and opt for less expensive tablets. Seeing a slick Facebook app could convince people to choose an iPad over competitors, as there is no Facebook app specifically tailored for tablets running Google's Android software.
For Facebook, a complete iPad application will keep people even more immersed in its service and add to the amount of time people spend on it. According to Nielsen Research, Americans spend eight hours a month, or 16 percent of their total time online, using Facebook's Web site and mobile applications.
Leon Dubinsky, a software engineer at Facebook, wrote in a blog post on the company's Web site that the app had been designed to create an immersive and "fun" experience on the tablet.
